Decimals and Rounding Galore

Decimals:
can be defined as any number written in base-ten positional numeration.
Expanded:expanded notation/ expanded form:the number written out by numbers multiplied by their "columns."

Say the number is 123.45
      1(100)+2(10)+3(1)+4(1/10)+5(1/100)

expanded exponential notation:
      1(10^2)+2(10^1)+3(10^0)+4(10^ -1)+5(10^ -2)

**^and a number mean it would be written smaller in exponential form

Place Values

6 -> hundredths
3 -> thousandths
4 -> ten thousandths

Writing out the decimal

245.639 -> two hundred forty-five and six hundred thirty-nine thousandths

being able to write out your numbers with decimals will come in handy when you are in an adult and writing checks.

Converting fractions to decimals

42/100 = 0.42
the way you covert the fraction to a decimals is count how many zeros there are in the fraction and that's how many numbers you count where you put the decimals

64193/10000=6.4193

Inequality of Decimals

0.19, 0.036, 0.195, 0.2

add a zero to make all the decimals the same length

0.190, 0.036, 0.195, 0.200
now look at the first number which is the biggest?
0.200
now look at the second number which is the next biggest?
0.190 and 0.195
so now you look at the third number
0.195
and then of course
0.190
and the smallest
0.036

Biggest to Smallest
0.2, 0.195, 0.19, 0.036
